Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple. Open the disk image, drag Parley into Applications, and open it from Applications. Allow microphone and audio permissions when prompted; follow the in-app setup for meeting audio drivers.
These preview builds have not completed device-level acceptance testing on both Mac architectures. Confirm your actual audio setup before purchasing credit or a personal API licence.
1. Check your computer and audio
Windows 11 x64
Install Parley, then open it from the Start menu. For meetings, select the meeting process as the audio source and configure a suitable virtual audio cable to send translated speech into the call. Virtual cable software is installed separately and may have its own fee. Use physical headphones for listening.
macOS 14.5 or later
Download the installer for your Mac chip above. Allow the microphone and required audio permissions, then follow the app’s virtual audio driver setup. Select ParleyVirtualMic as the meeting microphone and ParleyMeetingBus as the meeting speaker, with physical headphones selected in Parley.
For in-person mode on either platform, select a physical microphone and speaker or headphones directly. No meeting virtual audio device is needed. Parley is a desktop app, not a browser translator or mobile app, and cloud translation needs internet access.
2. Choose how to pay for translation
- Managed service: sign in, add wallet credit and choose Parley service / Automatic. You do not need a personal API key or the personal API licence.
- Personal API: buy the one-time licence if you want to use your own supported provider account. Configure credentials in the desktop app; provider usage is billed separately. Follow the personal API setup guide.
All modes require sign-in. Use the same account in the app and website. Check the current prices and cost estimator before placing an order.
3. Choose a conversation and check it
- Select meeting mode for two-way speech, or in-person mode for one-way microphone interpretation.
- Choose a language pair available in your installed app, selected model and mode. Start with a compatible built-in voice.
- Check input levels, selected output and permissions. Use a short session to confirm translated playback; service usage may incur charges.
- Stop the session when finished. View local caption history or export SRT subtitles.
Before your first important call
Test audio routing with the actual meeting app and devices you will use. Avoid sending translated output back into the capture microphone. Verify important names and numbers with the other person, and obtain permission to process the conversation.
Supported languages, voice choices and delay depend on your provider and setup. The model language reference describes provider capabilities; it does not certify every combination in every desktop build.
